  • June 7th: Scott Flanigan Trio + Derek O’Connor

    Pianist, organist, and co-founder of Scott’s Jazz Club, Scott Flanigan brings his trio of Rohan Armstrong (bass) and Andrew McCoubrey (drums) back to the club with special guest saxophonist Derek O’Connor!

    Derek O’Connor, or ‘Doc’ as he’s known to the music world, has continually refined and expanded his talents as a solo artist whilst establishing an elite reputation as one of Irelands finest Saxophone players and as a first-call sideman for some of the worlds major artists. Derek has toured, performed and recorded around the world with Paul Brady, Van Morrison, Chaka Khan, Wet Wet Wet, Bob Geldof, Imelda May, Andrew Strong, Heartbeat of Home, and Jeffrey Osborne to name but a few.

    Some of you may have seen Derek appearing recently with Paul Dunlea’s group, and we’re delighted to bring one of Ireland’s most explosive saxophonists back to Scott’s Jazz Club!

    June 14th: Chief Keegan

    Chief Keegan are a musically skilled, multitalented instrumental funk band from Dublin, Ireland. Some of their musical influences include bands such as Vulfpeck, The Meters, Lettuce and Galactic amongst a mixture of other genres throughout numerous decades. Bluesy and with a deep funky groove, their music is filled with energetic, unique and incredible sounds that will transport you into a world of funkadelic musical fusion and leave you wanting more.

    Since their formation, Chief Keegan have been working hard on the gigging scene nationwide in Ireland and have been successfully performing to crowds and fans for many years with their groovy vibes, gaining a good following. Since the beginning of their journey, they have had a plethora of notable gigs on their roster including some popular annual festivals in Ireland.


    Composed of musicians deeply embedded in the Irish music scene, band members have collaborated with an abundance of amazing Irish artists such as James Vincent McMorrow, Zaska, Loah, Sive, CC Brez, The RTE Concert Orchestra and Sharon Shannon, to name a few.

  • June 21st: QOW Trio

    Making a welcome return to Scott’s Jazz Club after a spectacular show last year! QOW TRIO is a generation-spanning trio of diverse players who’ve come together, united by a love of the tradition, to explore the freedom that opens up within the three-way saxophone-bass-drums format. A chance meeting in Brighton’s Verdict Club seeded the idea for a project: pooling their different takes on the music they love, coming at each tune from their own angle, informed by their own generation’s perspective.

    Together QOW TRIO’s playing experience encompasses sixty years of the story UK jazz across three generations. Firebrand young sax star and Galway native RILEY STONE LONERGAN is a regular at Ronnie Scott’s and one of the most exciting young players on the London scene. British drum legend SPIKE WELLS has enjoyed an astonishing career, starting in swinging 60s London, and playing with everyone from Dexter Gordon to Stan Getz to Joe Harriot - yes, really - but is best know for his long and close association with two of the greatest British tenor legends, Tubby Hayes and Bobby Wellins. Multi-genre bassist and bandleader EDDIE MYER is a familiar figure on the Brighton scene and draws inspiration from Wilbur Ware and George Tucker as well as Eric Revis and Dennis Irwin. They spent a beautiful day together in the renowned FishMarket studios under the eyes and ears of engineer Ben Lamdin, capturing the freewheeling essence of their interplay direct to tape, with most of the tunes recorded in a single take. Their debut record sounds like a series of spontaneous, direct and honest conversations, taking place across time and space, with melody, swing, warmth and passion for the music as the constant factors throughout.

  • June 28th: Phil Robson Organ Trio

    No stranger to Scott’s Jazz Club, guitarist Phil Robson returns to this stage with his incredible organ trio of Ross Stanley (organ) and Gene Calderazzo (drums) as part of their Irish tour.

    Phil Robson is a UK born, multi-award-winning guitarist & composer who was a seminal part of the London scene for many years before relocating to New York City in 2015 for five years. He is now based in Co. Roscommon, Ireland. He has led bands featuring jazz legends such as David Liebman, Mark Turner, Billy Hart, James Genus, Marc Copland & many more as well as working as a freelance musician with a huge cross spectrum of internationally renowned artists such as Kenny Wheeler, Barbra Streisand, Steve Lacy, Vince Mendoza, Donny McCaslin, Django Bates, The BBC Big Band, Ingrid Jenson, Phil Woods, Mike Gibbs, Bob Brookmeyer, Steve Wilson Maceo Parker, etc.

    In Europe he is renowned as the co-leader of the cult UK band ‘Partisans’ withsaxophonist Julian Siegel which ran for 23 years as well as for his work with his partner, the great singer/songwriter Christine Tobin.

    In New York he is best known for his collaboration with the master saxophonist/composer Jed Levy.

    He's also a 'Babel Label', 'Whirlwind Recordings' and ‘Lyte Records’ recording artist with highly acclaimed albums who performs at major venues and festivals around the world as well as being a renowned educator who is an honorary ARAM (Associate of the Royal Academy of Music) in London.

  • July 5th: Gediminas Karkauskas Trio

    Gediminas Karkauskas, originally from Lithuania, is a jazz pianist and composer now based in Dublin.

    Known for his dynamic and soulful performances sensitive and introspective style, Gediminas released his acclaimed CD “Lost Suite” in 2022. For this inaugural outing at Scott’s Jazz Club, he’ll be joined by Riccardo Marenghi critically acclaimed drummer, who has perfected his craft over two decades to the rhythmic origins of jazz and Maciej Blizinski double bass and electric guitar player very active in the Dublin and Irish scene. As they will lead audiences on a deeply connective musical journey through jazz favourites.

  • July 19th: Lee Meehan Trio

    Lee Meehan is best known on the Irish music circuit for being a blues guitarist and singer with bands including Don Baker, The Business, Damien Dempsey and Mik Pyro (Republic of Loose).

    After hearing jazz guitar great Wes Montgomery for the first time, Lee became fascinated with jazz and studied the genre, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Performance from Newpark College in 2019.

    Lee has quickly become a great leader is his own right and formed The Lee Meehan Quintet two years ago when he brought together some of Ireland’s top players in a high-octane ensemble. He recorded his debut jazz album “Some of Us are Looking at the Stars” to critical acclaim last year, and has built a reputation as a great showman and band leader whose sound spans both blues and jazz.

    For this outing at Scott’s Jazz Club, Lee will be bringing his organ trio to the club for a great mixture of blues, jazz, and vocals.

  • July 26th: BD Lenz

    Mix together the styles of Pat Metheny and Mike Stern and you have the recipe for jazz guitarist/composer B.D. Lenz. The New Jersey native has played guitar since his early teens, is a graduate of Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, and has studied with such masters as Mike Stern, Vic Juris, and Charlie Banacos along the way. Lenz has released 13 highly-acclaimed recordings as a leader featuring greats such as Randy Brecker, Mike Stern, Will Lee, Joel Rosenblatt, & Mark Egan and his music has been featured in hundreds of TV shows globally including "Breaking Bad" (AMC), "Catfish" (MTV), and "Young Sheldon" (CBS) to name a few. This Godin-endorsed guitarist has performed thousands of shows internationally and is a columnist for AllAboutJazz.com.

  • August 2nd: Belleville

    Co-founded by French guitarist Nicolas Deschatrettes, Manouche have been the ambassadors of gypsy jazz in Belfast and Northern Ireland since 2011. From the early days of busking and open mic nights, to playing at jazz clubs and festivals locally and internationally, they have grown in talent and numbers to become a rare gem on the music scene in Belfast and Northern Ireland.

    Gypsy jazz, or jazz manouche in French, originated in France in the 1930s with guitarist Django Reinhardt, violinist Stephane Grappelli, and their Quintette du Hot Club de France. Traditionally played on string instruments, gypsy jazz is strongly inspired by Dixieland jazz and American swing, with influences from the music of Romani people and French popular music, and it has experienced a global revival in the past 20 years.

    Manouche are bringing their band Belleville to Scott's Jazz club for the third time with Mateus Chmielewski on guitar, Niall Lynch on violin, Nicolas Deschatrettes on guitar, and Bill Johnston on double bass, and with special guest Matthew Dowie on guitar.

  • August 9th: Katharine Timoney

    Katharine Timoney is a singer-songwriter from Northern Ireland. Her lead single 'Don't Fret' from her 2022 EP, produced by Ben Castle, featured on JazzFM's A List for four consecutive weeks and quickly gained Spotify's editorial support on playlists 'Cosy Jazz', 'Fresh Finds Jazz' and 'Best Vocal Jazz of 2022'.  The EP's title track 'Life Came into Colour' won the 2022 UK Songwriting Contest Jazz Category and she was also winner of the 2018 BBC NI Platform Award sponsored by The Arts Council of Northern Ireland.  As part of the award, she performed her songs with The Ulster Orchestra at a BBC concert in The Ulster Hall, Belfast in May 2019 and also at the BBC NI Proms in 2020. 

  • August 16th: ÄTSCH

    ÄTSCH is mixing the aesthetics of open post-rock soundscapes with the exiting freedom of Jazz improvisation. Starting as a graduation project in New Park Music Centre in 2016 the group has become an established player in the Irish Jazz scene. In 2018 and 2019 ÄTSCH became the first ever Irish outfit to feature at the Jazz ahead Club-night in Bremen (DE).

    With their third Album “ÄTSCH III” the Band is moving away from compositional norms of modern Jazz. Based on short forms and strong melodies, the tunes are written as a guide to inspire improvisation and interplay. The band is drawing on Post-Rock and Pop influences to create a cinematic and expansive sound.

  • August 30th: Scott Flanigan Plays The Beatles

    From the mid-1960s until the present day, the Beatles have held a fascination for jazz musicians, with jazz greats such as Count Basie, Herbie Hancock and Brad Mehldau all recording numerous songs by the Fab Four.

    Belfast pianist Scott Flanigan continued this tradition in 2022 with a special one-off concert celebrating 60 years since the Beatles’ debut single, Love Me Do.

    Scott is delighted to bring this concert to the Out to Lunch Festival, and has arranged an hour of great music by the Beatles for a piano trio, focusing on some of the well-known classics but the lesser-known songs as well. Scott will be joined by Andrew McCoubrey on drums and Rohan Armstrong on bass.

    A Belfast native, Scott Flanigan is one of the foremost keyboard players on the Irish jazz scene. He performs regularly across the United Kingdom, Ireland, France and Germany, and has recently performed with Van Morrison, the Ulster Orchestra, Larry Coryell, Jean Toussaint, Jim Mullen and Linley Hamilton.
